First block laid for Mounts Bay walling project
The Mounts Bay river walling project marked a major milestone with the first block laid in early October.
The project will replace a 400m section of river wall between the Old Swan Brewery and car park one.

With the existing walling in danger of collapse, it will stabilise the riverbank, protect Mounts Bay Road and the cycle path from erosion, and ensure the safety of the many cyclists and walkers who use the path every day. Gabion walling will be replaced with limestone.

The works are being undertaken as a collaborative arrangement between the City of Perth and Trust.

The Department of Transport has gazetted a temporary speed restriction of 6 knots and no wash zone extending from the western side of the Narrows Bridge, along the northern shoreline and south to the Quarry starboard mark, east to Mill Point and following the shoreline north back to the Narrows. The speed restriction will prevent wash interfering with construction.

The Trust’s Riverbank program protects and rehabilitates priority foreshore areas in the Swan Canning Riverpark, with many projects completed in partnership with local government and the community.

More information on the temporary speed restriction or other Trust foreshore restoration projects can be found on this website.
